Najib's position is hanging precariously

Even Dr M is fed up off the procrastinating PM

The whole nation is now so fed up of Najib whom has held off holding the elections even after his tenure is over. No one sees him holding the post anymore even if Barisan wins the election and he is now seen as buying time to fend off accusations and possible prosecution if Barisan loses. Even Dr M now believes that the faster he goes the faster the rest of us can get on with our lives!

Dr M: Najib will be removed

MK: Najib and Dr M has turned from friends to foes

LKS: Scandal filled Najib is unsalvageable

Martin Jalleh: The PM who achieved nothing

Kee Thuan Chye: Pakatan takes fight into UMNO and MCA heartland

MI: MCA will barely survive the next election

The Star: The whole nation is fed up of waiting for Najib

MK: UMNO fights with what they know best: More sex videos

MI: If sex videos fail, we can always use violence

MK: Hisham: We are ready to use violence

FMT: Indecisive, incapable and now a joke

FMT: Malaysians will remember him as the PM whom was too scared to call for an election

The Sorry State of Malaysian Elections

Malaysian Election Commission and Foreign Missions try their best to deprive overseas Malaysians of their right to vote

Batu Gajah MP Fong Po Kuan once said that Malaysians overseas wanted to exercise their right to vote because they loved the country. This prompted Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz to lash out: “If they really love Malaysia, they should come back and vote. They willingly went abroad and stayed there for five, six years and didn’t come back. It means they don’t love Malaysia.”

The Federal Constitution under Article 119 guarantees every citizen’s constitutional right to vote in an election provided (a) he or she has attained the age of 21; (b) is resident in a constituency or, if not so resident, is an absent voter; and (c) is registered in the electoral roll as an elector in the constituency in which he or she resides on the qualifying date, unless he or she is disqualified under the law.

There you go, so they have the right to vote!

But this right has been amended under the Elections (Registration of Electors) Regulations 2002 so that, of the Malaysians residing overseas, only four categories are allowed to register as an absent voter:

> A serving member of the Armed Forces.

> A public servant serving overseas.

> A full-time student who is studying overseas.

> Spouses of the three aforementioned categories who are living with their spouse at the date of application for registration.

This effectively means that all the illustrious personalities mentioned at the start of this article cannot vote while overseas. They are among the estimated 784,900 Malaysians working overseas. If you include the spouses, the figure could easily touch a million.

Political analyst Dr Ong Kian Ming put forth two reasons why overseas Malaysians do not enjoy equal right to vote: logistics and politics. He noted that because of the constituency-based elections in Malaysia, it is a big hassle to send individual ballots to voters overseas who vote in constituencies all over Malaysia.

“It is a messy logistical process and exercise, and if nobody pushes (the Election Commission) to act, the EC won’t do anything about it. As Malaysians overseas are more likely to be financially independent and think differently from Malaysians back home, it may be assumed that they are more likely to vote for the Opposition. Hence, there has been little political desire to make a concerted effort to incorporate more Malaysians into the electoral process,” said Ong.

Samy Vellu to cling on to his post until he is 95

“If I leave the party now, MIC will go into disarray"

Citing an apparent lack of qualified successors in MIC, Samy has blasted his critics by telling them off for asking him to leave. Saying he is only prepared to go if EVERYONE in MIC tells him to leave, Samy has confirmed he is not about to give up his post to his deputy Datuk G. Palanivel, who now realizes that he has to stick around as his deputy for another 23 more years.

The embattled party president was asked to comment on talk that he was not favoured by a certain Barisan Nasional (BN) component party to continue to lead MIC and it was speculated that he may not be fielded on Sunday (Feb 24).

"They don't hate me. There are NO indications anyone hate me."

"I am not old (only 72), I will only be old at 95 and then MAYBE you can ask me to leave."

"I will not sacrifice myself for MIC!" (ad-libbed by JR, sorry, couldn't resist it)

Samy: "This may be my last term... err, no.. er... maybe my 6th last term la..."

Penangites cheer on news of Dr Koh leaving for good

Penangites woke up today to some great news and a big smile on their faces upon reading the front pages of their dailies.

Penang CM Dr Koh to vacate his CM post

How long have we waited for this moment? I can't believe it has been 12 years! For 12 years we have suffered under his lethargic leadership (if you can call it leadership). For 12 years Penang has moved from a vibrant tourist state to one known for its rubbish, unrepaired roads and a stagnant state of affairs.

And to think Dr Koh only revealed his position after being pestered by our PM for not being able yo make a decision, with the elections looming close. How very typical of Dr Koh! How very typical of a man who can't make an important decision much less manage a state!

Anyway there is not much to be happy about knowing those tipped to fill his vacant PG 1 will be none other than one of the following: Gerakan secretary-general Datuk Seri Chia Kwang Chye, vice-president Datuk Dr Teng Hock Nan and deputy secretary-general Datuk Lee Kah Choon.

More of the same? I guess so, knowing how poor the quality of Gerakan members are. I remembered years ago a lot of Penangites were happy to see Lim Chong Eu go only to have a half comatose Gerakan newcomer replace him. And now will we move from half comatose to a full coma?

Dr Lim: Koh's move is to fulfill the wishes of Penangites who are fed up of him

Elsewhere: Malaysian PM gives himself another pat on the back for working hard. I believe the Malay translation is bekerja "keras"? I wonder what will he praise himself for next? Meanwhile, can someone please bring me a barf bag....
