MCA leaders caught lying again

It's best for Chua Soi Lek and Liow Tiong Lai to resign now

At first the IGP denied it, then Najib denied it but he was smart enough to get CSL and LTL to deny it in public while he hides behind Rosmah's skirt. Now 11 DOCTORS from the Tung Shin hospital has appeared in public to verify that the Malaysian security forces (disregarding all norms of public safety and international standards) has indeed fired tear gas into the hospital compound and ALSO assaulted people trying to take refuge in the hospital compound during the recent Bersih rally.

“What was most frightening and witnessed by many was the unprovoked violent assault within the hospital compounds and the apprehension of several protesters who had merely run into the hospital to seek shelter from the tear gas and the water cannons,” the statement by the 11 doctors said.

Malaysians march for a better government

Bersih Rally to clean up a corrupt government

Unggun Bersih

Semakin lara kita didera bara—
kita laungkan juga pesan merdeka:
Demokrasi sebenderang mentari
sehasrat hajat semurni harga diri.

Lama resah kita—demokrasi luka;
lama duka kita—demokrasi lara.
Demokrasi yang angkuh, kita cemuhi;
suara bebas yang utuh, kita idami!

Dua abad lalu Sam Adams berseru:
(di Boston dijirus teh ke laut biru):
Tak diperlu gempita sorak yang gebu,
diperlu hanya unggun api yang syahdu.

Kini menyalalah unggun sakti itu;
kini merebaklah nyala unggun itu.

- A. SAMAD SAID (National Laureate and Poet)

The time has come to clean up Malaysia

UMNO goes into panic mode as Bersih gains momentum

PM Najib's intimidations never worked. Now, even the King is on the side of Bersih as he has allowed Bersih to conduct their peaceful rally in a stadium. The only thing Najib can do now is to stop them getting into the stadium!

All cannot la!

A peaceful rally is the last thing a paranoid Najib wants

Do you want to organize a peaceful rally? Cannot-la... All rallies in Malaysia must be violent. If it is a peaceful rally then it will bring shame to BN because no one wants to join our rallies. Your peaceful rally will attract thousands and of course this is bad PR for BN. Tell you what. If you let UMNO Youth join the rally we can guarantee the rally will be violent (you take the blame-la), then we can have the PR we want! Win-lose situation right? You lose, I win!

PSD scholarship disbursement destroying BN's credibility

More believe scholarships were given to children of top government oficials

The recent announcement by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Mohd Nazri Aziz that the government will NOT publicize the list of scholarship holders only goes to strengthen the Malaysian public's believe that most of the PSD scholarships went to the children of top government officials rather than the needy and the poor.

For many years the public have heard stories of children of top government officials being offered scholarships year after year and nothing has been done to dispel such rumors. Nazri's statement can only mean that what the public believe is true all along.

This sorry state of affairs has even prompted people like Tan Sri Ramon Ravaratnam who are calling for more transparency and accountability in the BN governement which does not practice what it preaches.

Of course, the easiest way to settle this mess is to just print the list, but then will the public be shocked to see a "Who's Who" list being given scholarships? Or are we already immune to the fact that it is already common knowledge?

Malaysiakini: The whole scholarship process is secretive and suspicious

Najib's official visit to daughter's wedding?

Save on airline fare and hotel - use the governement's money

Is PM Najib trying to save his travel cost by using his official trip to Kazakhstan as a front for attending his daughter's wedding? The internet is abuzz with this latest news on how Malaysian government officials including the top dog cat (sorry!) himself has on numerous occasions made use of official trips for unofficial purpose. Brings to mind on Najib's recent visit to the US which somehow also "coincided with his daughter's convocation". How convenient is that?

Is Najib setting a good example on how to save cost?

Extremists running wild and sanctioned by UMNO

There is no end as to how far UMNO can go to promote its extremist and racists policies. From allowing Utusan to print blatant lies so that Muslims will be pitted against Christians and from allowing extremist Malays to spout foul-mouthed and hateful statements against the other races and religions, UMNO has once again shown that it can and will do anything to ensure that it remains in power. All the 1Malaysia talk has and will always be seen as mere propaganda to hide UMNO's extreme ideologies and its greed to ensure all the wealth of the nation stays only within its hands.

What is so bad about having a Christian PM?

After failing to corner PAS, Najib now trains his sights on DAP

Najib with the help of Utusan is now trying to convince somebody (anybody!) that DAP is in cahoots with Christian groups to convert Malaysia into a Christian nation! How stupid is that?! Of course he gets the help of Perkasa to raise a big hoo-ha in hoping that DAP will take the fall, once again undermining the intelligence of Malaysians whom they think are so gullible but should be given more credit than to believe that kind of crap!

Najib has failed in trying to dispose of Anwar, he has also failed in trying to get PAS in bed with him and now he is almost certain to fail too in trying to put a bad light on DAP. It is so sad that people like Hishammudin also have to play along with the tune as Malaysia goes deeper into this shit hole created by BN.

The Sorry State of Malaysian Elections

Malaysian Election Commission and Foreign Missions try their best to deprive overseas Malaysians of their right to vote

Batu Gajah MP Fong Po Kuan once said that Malaysians overseas wanted to exercise their right to vote because they loved the country. This prompted Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz to lash out: “If they really love Malaysia, they should come back and vote. They willingly went abroad and stayed there for five, six years and didn’t come back. It means they don’t love Malaysia.”

The Federal Constitution under Article 119 guarantees every citizen’s constitutional right to vote in an election provided (a) he or she has attained the age of 21; (b) is resident in a constituency or, if not so resident, is an absent voter; and (c) is registered in the electoral roll as an elector in the constituency in which he or she resides on the qualifying date, unless he or she is disqualified under the law.

There you go, so they have the right to vote!

But this right has been amended under the Elections (Registration of Electors) Regulations 2002 so that, of the Malaysians residing overseas, only four categories are allowed to register as an absent voter:

> A serving member of the Armed Forces.

> A public servant serving overseas.

> A full-time student who is studying overseas.

> Spouses of the three aforementioned categories who are living with their spouse at the date of application for registration.

This effectively means that all the illustrious personalities mentioned at the start of this article cannot vote while overseas. They are among the estimated 784,900 Malaysians working overseas. If you include the spouses, the figure could easily touch a million.

Political analyst Dr Ong Kian Ming put forth two reasons why overseas Malaysians do not enjoy equal right to vote: logistics and politics. He noted that because of the constituency-based elections in Malaysia, it is a big hassle to send individual ballots to voters overseas who vote in constituencies all over Malaysia.

“It is a messy logistical process and exercise, and if nobody pushes (the Election Commission) to act, the EC won’t do anything about it. As Malaysians overseas are more likely to be financially independent and think differently from Malaysians back home, it may be assumed that they are more likely to vote for the Opposition. Hence, there has been little political desire to make a concerted effort to incorporate more Malaysians into the electoral process,” said Ong.
